Please Note: Mr. Pugliese will also be teaching the Saturday Figure Drawing and Painting for the Fall, 2008 semester.

This is an intensive course that will have back-to-back (morning and afternoon) sessions to allow for students’ maximum development. Students can take one or both sessions, and can choose to paint, draw, or do both. The instructor will present historical and traditional drawing and painting methods first exemplified in the studios of Europe nearly two centuries ago and now undergoing a worldwide resurgence.

Information will be presented in a clear and practical way, and the instructor will work one-on-one with students to monitor their growth. Working from the live model in long poses (that will last six sessions/eighteen hours) each student will have ample time to bring his or her work to a finish. Major topics include the accurate establishment of proportion, the principles of light and shadow, and a simple method for setting a palette and mixing flesh tones. Both beginning and advanced students are welcome since instruction is largely one-on-one.
