006 - Figure Drawing 101 (Room 502)
(introductory) - Hal Brooks
Tuesdays: 6:30 - 9:30pm
January 27th - April 21st (No Class March 17th)

$500 = $450 (tuition) + $50 (model fee) (3 CEUs - Twelve 3-hour Sessions)

This class is designed as an introduction to life drawing for the beginning art student. We will incorporate a variety of short gesture (action) poses and work towards longer sustained poses by the end of the semester. Working from the live model, students will develop an understanding of figure structure, proper proportion and the anatomical aspects of the human figure.

Basic principles of drawing will be discussed, from the proper observation of the model, to the use of light and shadow to express the volumetric forms of the figure. The use of line and rhythm will also be explored as a means of representing the expressive qualities of the human form.
