The library is pleased to announce the 2008 launch of its new web-based Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) which allows students to access the library catalog from any Internet connection.

The Academy library was recently awarded a grant of $4500 for collection development. The New York State Department of Education administers development grants as part of the New York State Library’s Strategic Plan to ensure high quality service and resources to the people of New York State.

Hours
While classes are in session library hours are Monday-Friday 9:00-9:00, Saturday and Sunday 12:00-5:00.
Collection scope
The library collects in the areas of the visual arts, with a focus on the work of figurative artists, art history and art criticism. Psychology, social sciences, sciences and law are represented only in direct relation to the arts. Formats collected include monographs, catalogues raisonnes, exhibition catalogs, slides, videos, serials.
Arrangement
Books in the library are shelved according to their subject using Library of Congress numbers. Current issues of magazines are shelved alphabetically by the magazine title.
Facilities
Students may use library computers for research, word processing and scanning. They may also make color prints and copies for a nominal fee. The NYAA library does not lend books or magazines to students although students may borrow videos if they choose not to view them in the library.
Copying
Students may make color or grayscale copies. U.S. copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) prohibits the unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted materials, except as permitted by the principles of fair use. Students are expected to act responsibly and respectfully when using images or text.
