Paul R. Provost, Ph.D., is the President of the New York Academy of Art. A seasoned leader in both the nonprofit and commercial art worlds, he brings more than 25 years of strategic and visionary experience to the Academy.

Dr. Provost was appointed President of the New York Academy of Art in 2025, following a rigorous national search. Most recently he served as the founding CEO of the Art Bridges Foundation, where he helped build a $1.5 billion arts foundation into a national leader in museum collaboration, inclusive programming, and access-focused initiatives.

His career includes senior leadership roles at Christie’s, where he served as Deputy Chairman and a global ambassador for the brand, and earlier as Senior Specialist and Director of American Art. He later founded a consulting firm advising philanthropists and institutions on art market strategy and cultural stewardship.

Dr. Provost holds a doctorate in art history from Princeton University, along with degrees from Williams College and Middlebury College. With a deep commitment to arts education, equity, and institutional excellence, he is focused on leading the Academy into its next chapter of growth, innovation, and impact.
