Academy student artists, who receive 25 to 50 percent of each sale

ABOUT

Deck the Walls is the Academy’s anonymous art sale. Over three hundred small works by Academy artists go up at once, priced at a fraction of what they would fetch elsewhere, and every piece hangs unsigned. Buyers choose on instinct alone and only learn whose work they have taken home after the sale closes.

The format rewards looking rather than name recognition, which is why the room turns into a mad dash the moment the doors open. Between 25 and 50 percent of the proceeds from each sale go directly to the student artist who donated the work.

DETAILS

Deck the Walls is not scheduled for the current season. The Academy’s benefit auction, Take Home a Nude, was held instead at Phillips on December 15, celebrating the legacy of Walter Robinson.
