Trained originally in Abstract Expressionism, Erlebacher (along with her husband Walter) broke from this style in the late 60u00e2u0080u0099s and quickly became recognized as one of the leading representational figurative and still-life artists in America. Erlebacheru00e2u0080u0099s work examines the deep metaphorical and social themes of contemporary culture through her painterly and aesthetic images. This retrospective pays tribute to Marthau00e2u0080u0099s outstanding leadership and tenure at the Academy.
