Parting embodies the warm haze of nostalgia and memory, casual intimacies in friendships between girls, and changing perceptions of one’s place in a relationship in the retrospective. A play on words, Parting references both the sectioning of braided hair, and the act of emotionally and physically drifting away. My work is a glimpse into personal memory and experience through naturalism blended with contemporary abstracted/illustrative elements, with an emphasis on evocative color language and narrative.
