Lithium Stare, 2024, acrylic on canvas, 36 x 24 inches
By calling upon historical modes and models that continuously shape our culture today, my work manifests as a negotiation between historical ignorance and contemporary judgement. Through an intensive process of research into the social/cultural influence of visual art, my work utilizes this negotiation approach to engage in a critique of the fundamental value of ‘the self’ and question its consequences on myself and the immediate world around me.
