This work is an outpouring of my grief around marriage. It explores themes of trauma and loss of self. The wedding dress represents the original hope I had for my marriage, while the bruised colors of the underside of the dress convey the reality of where that hope ultimately led. In this painting, I articulate the experience of finding yourself in a nightmare when you had set out to fulfill a dream.
