Many fear the clown, yet it exists within us all. It is the unconscious: innocent, impulsive, and battling adult knowledge. Through the clown, surreal imagery, and unconventional machine-like self-portraits, I aim to capture the uncanny feelings created when our childhood dreams seem more real than the rational adult world. My work represents adult fears that were once childhood fantasies depicted through Freud’s view of ‘the uncanny’, and Jung’s ‘trickster archetype,’ highlighting self-destruction and societal defiance.
