My painting practice often explores the loss of memory and identity, but this work focuses on a present, personal connection with a close friend. Through portraiture, I am interested not only in capturing physical likeness, but also the emotional relationship between painter and subject. Painting someone I know deeply is difficult because no image can fully hold their essence, yet this work is my attempt to come close.
