This piece was created out of a desire to push my self-portrait practice further after success with a more standard approach. After chancing upon this antique tea pitcher, it was clear that its dynamic reflective surface would provide for a challenging and enjoyable painting experience. It became a kind of crystal ball where I could explore the relationship between different sides of oneself and their relationship with a strange, mundane world.
