Tuition & Fees

The Academy charges a flat tuition rate to all in-state, out-of-state and international students. Students may enroll up to the credit limit outlined in their respective program and be charged the flat rate. Additional credits taken beyond those needed to fulfill degree requirements will be charged at the prevailing per credit charge. Students must demonstrate sufficient income sources to meet one academic year’s expenses. The non-refundable deposit fee ($850 for MFA and CFA, $500-$1000* for SURP) will be subtracted from the first semester’s tuition invoice. Tuition and fees for each program are outlined below.

*Tuition for SURP may be applied as remission for the Academy’s Certificate of Fine Art (CFA) or Master of Fine Art (MFA) tuition if the student is accepted into either the CFA or MFA programs.

*Tuition & Mandatory Fees cover tuition for five classes and model, studio and technology fees. For students making use of dorm housing the non-refundable deposit is $1000. Residency students are responsible for travel to and from the residency, food, personal expenses, and admission fees to museums and galleries, which are not covered in the tuition and program fees. Please note that tuition and fees are subject to change and annual increases.

Tuition Payment & Refund Policies

CFA & MFA Tuition Payment Policy

Students are required to keep their financial accounts current. Students are billed on a semester-to-semester basis and receive an account statement of tuition and fees. Full payment is due one month prior to the start of classes each semester as outlined in the following schedule.

FALL 2024

Students in default of bursar payments may not pre-register, enroll, attend, progress to classes or access their studios until the full semester’s tuition has been paid either by check, money order, credit card or guaranteed student loan payment. The Academy will charge 3.5% for processing students’ payments made by credit/debit card. Students dependent on government sponsored financial aid programs (both domestic and international), supplemental bank loans or bank financed tuition payment plans are advised to adhere to application deadlines to ensure funds arrive at the school in a timely manner. We reserve the right to remove you from the program for non-payment of tuition.

Students leaving school for any reason are entitled to a refund according to the schedule indicated in the following Tuition Refund Policy.

*The summer tuition payment deadline is effective beginning summer 2022. For summer 2021, tuition balance payment is due the first day of classes.

CFA & MFA Tuition Refund Policy

Refund policy for students who withdraw:

Prior to the first day of class – 100% of tuition
During the first week of class – 90% of tuition
During the second week of class – 80% of tuition
During the third week of class – 60% of tuition
During the Fourth week of class – 50% of tuition
After the fourth week of class – 0% of tuition

According to the provisions of the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, the refund calculation for students receiving Title IV funds are based on the number of days attended during the term. The portion of federal loans and grants student earned is calculated on a percentage basis comparing the total number of calendar days in the semester to the number of days completed before the withdrawal. Once the 60% point of the enrollment period has lapsed, the student has earned 100% of the Title IV aid. The return of these funds may result in a balance due to the Academy and/or the federal government. Mandatory fees are not refundable.

SURP Tuition Payment Policy

Students are required to keep their financial accounts current. Students are billed on a semester-to-semester basis and receive an account statement of tuition and fees. Full payment of SURP tuition is due no later than May 15. No student may attend classes until the program’s tuition has been paid either by check, money order, credit card or guaranteed student loan payment. The Academy will charge 3.5% for processing students’ payments made by credit/debit card. If the student fails to pay the full tuition fee by the above deadline, the student is responsible for a late fee of $850. We reserve the right to remove you from the program for non-payment of tuition by the stated deadline. Students leaving school for any reason are entitled to a refund according to the schedule indicated in the following Tuition Refund Policy.

SURP Tuition Refunds

Students leaving the Summer Undergraduate Residency Program for any reason are entitled to a refund according to the schedule indicated below. Please note the $500 non-refundable enrollment deposit and the $500 non-refundable housing deposit are not subject to refund.
