My practice is rooted in observation from life as a means to grasp the nuances of the visual experience otherwise inaccessible through the use of photographs. Working from life provides an opportunity for deep connection to the visual world which promotes meditative contemplation and an attention to detail. Depicting introspective moments, I explore the psychological space between the artist and sitter, and the emotional connection derived from the intimacy of these moments.
