Those Who Remained Standing for Freedom, 2026, oil on shaped panel, 33.5 x 40 inches
My work explores the inner landscapes of lived experience, particularly among women shaped by memory, displacement, and inherited trauma. In this work, painted cutout forms extend beyond the traditional rectangle, allowing the figures to physically occupy space while remaining rooted in painting. Drawing from Persian ornamental language and domestic interiors, I create layered psychological spaces that hold tenderness, grief, and resilience simultaneously.
