Mossy Maenads, 2025, acrylic on canvas, 40 x 40 inches

Amid this epidemic of loneliness and isolation, my work focuses on moments of collective joy that nourish the soul and make life worth living. I paint myself and friends leisurely laying around in the sun, enjoying time off work in nature. These works are in conversation with depictions of leisure by Cezanne, Seurat and Pissarro. I’m continuing the tradition of figure painting and the nude, while omitting the male gaze, by painting from lived experience.
