Marcelo Daldoce is a Brazilian artist living and working in Philadelphia. In 2016, he received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art. He had earned residencies at the Leipzig International Art Program in Germany and the Eric Fischl Residency in Maryland. Daldoce has been shown in museums in Austria and Brazil and at art fairs and in private collections. His work has also been featured in group exhibits in Brazil, New York City, Sotheby’s, and many other galleries worldwide and various art publications and the cover of mainstream magazines like There and GQ. Daldoce was awarded the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant in 2017 and 2019.

Daldoce’s primary medium is watercolor. For more than 20 years, he has been uniquely transforming it. His skill, style, and subjects have infused the medium with contemporary vitality. The creative process he uses when creating his art is the same he teaches. With more than eight years of watercolor teaching experience, his instruction and practices allow the medium to express itself and create images that are alive. By exemplifying how to cause accidents without losing control, his goal is for his students to win the trust and obtain definitive results in this unforgiving technique.

"The figure is nothing unless you can twist it around like a strange miracle."

Willem De Kooning
